My clients and I tend to build a strong relationship fairly quickly. I attribute this to my inclination to be honest and direct while maintaining empathy and a non-judgmental stance. Clients will learn early on that they will be given useful feedback about their concerns, patterns or relating styles so we can readily get to the work of finding a new way. My humor will inevitably join us in session and I invite you to bring yours as well. While psychotherapy is often focused on the painful and dark aspects of our lives, in reality, some of what each of us does in life is simply funny.
I practice a style of psychotherapy in an integrative manner. Integrative psychotherapy allows me to fuse additional theoretical orientations because they complement one another. Other orientations on which I rely include Gestalt Therapy, Contemporary Reichian Therapy and occasionally Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
