When you first call, we will speak briefly about what leads you to seek psychotherapy. This will help both of us to decide if I am the right fit for your particular concerns. We will discuss scheduling, my fees and whether or not you would like to bill insurance.
I will email you documents to complete and bring with you to our first session; please be sure to have these filled out so we can spend all our time addressing your current concerns. Our first session, which is referred to as an intake, will last approximately 50 minutes and during this time we will cover topics such as family history, your present concerns, prior experiences you have had in therapy, medical issues which may impact your emotional well-being, relationships, and substance use.
At the end of our first session, we will discuss our fit and whether or not you would like to move forward. I provide psychotherapy for a variety of issues; however, I am also happy to make a referral to another provider if we believe it is in your best interest. Most clients schedule appointments on a weekly basis, reserving the same appointment time each week. If you would like to spread our appointments out, we can discuss your needs.
Future appointments will last 50-55 minutes and will begin promptly at your scheduled time. If you are running late, please call to let me know. We will end our session at the regularly scheduled time even if you are late. It is my policy to cancel appointments when you are more than 15 minutes late. You will be charged the full fee for that hour. Please call or email me with any questions you have about my practice or what you can expect in therapy. Thank you again for visiting my website. I look forward to speaking with you.
